Birth of theconvertfoodie
It is with immense excitement that I embark upon this blogging journey. I have family who have more confidence than me, in my ability to cook and to write!!
Just before summer break 2011, I was sitting down thinking of things to do with the girls so as to make the long break enjoyable and seem 'not so long'. [I have never been a 'cook'. The Mister, however is the TasteMaster!! He loves food, he loves to eat food and he loves to prepare it too. The kids have a pretty keen sense of taste as well.] So as a summer break project, I decided to try out one new dish every other day. It was a way of trying to get myself interested in food at the same time introducing the kids to different dishes.
So anyway, we started with baking, since I was more inclined towards baking as a cooking technique. I would make something and I would then post a picture of the dish and then my friends / family would 'like' the picture and/or post comments. Over the year, that really has me hooked. There's no underestimating the power of 'Praise'!! [Note to self, 'Praise' the kids more, things will move ever so smoothly :-)!!]
Now I find myself, make no mistake here, looking forward to trying out a new recipe every weekend!! Over the weeks, not only has my family enjoyed the new recipes but even the Mister has started calling me a 'foodie'. And that is a huge compliment for me! He is probably enjoying this phase the most. Friends have been requesting the recipes I have tried and therefore I decided to start a food blog. Not that there aren't enough out there already!!
The recipes I post here are vegetarian for the most. Having said that, you may come across the occasional egg, in some dessert recipes.
Thank you for visiting me here, hope you get to take away something with you. Feel free to leave your ideas/suggestions/comments :-)!!
Welcome to down to earth but sometimes indulgent food :-)!!
